Process Engineer

Job Description

Energis is recruiting for a Process Engineer to join our client, an innovative manufacturing business based in North Down.

The successful Process Engineer will focus on improving efficiency, reducing waste and ensuring quality standards in a high-precision production environment. You will combine a strong technical background with a passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence. Applicants should ideally have experience in the plastics / polymers / extrusion industries or similar.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and monitor lean manufacturing strategies to enhance productivity, minimise waste, and improve product quality
• Analyse production data and identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for process enhancements
• Collaborate with the maintenance and tooling teams to ensure optimal equipment performance and recommend upgrades or modifications as needed
• Work closely with the quality assurance team to maintain stringent tolerances and ensure compliance with industry and customer standards
• Train production teams on lean principles, methodologies, and best practices to sustain continuous improvement efforts
• Liaise with R&D, engineering, and production teams to support new product development and process validation

Essential Criteria:

• Third level qualification (ideally degree) in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
• Proven experience (2-3+ years) in process engineering
• Expertise in lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and process improvement tools
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and drive actionable solutions
• Excellent communication skills
• Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., CAD, ERP systems, process simulation tools)

Desirable criteria:

• Previous experience in the plastics, polymers, extrusion or related industries
• Certification in Lean or Six Sigma

Salary is £36 – 40k depending upon experience. The company operates an early finish on Fridays!
